Origin & protected name
A buyer-facing guide to the PDO, the Sarılop variety and the difference between a geographic origin claim and a product marketed under a verified protected designation.
Aydın İnciri is not a generic synonym for every Turkish dried fig. It is a protected designation tied to a defined product, geography and production method.

The name Aydın İnciri was entered in the EU register as a PDO in 2016.
The official product specification defines Aydın İnciri as dried Sarılop figs.
The EU single document states that production, harvesting and drying must take place within the defined geographical area.
Important distinction
A product should not be marketed as Aydın İnciri PDO merely because it is a Turkish dried fig or because a supplier is located near Aydın. The protected-name claim should be supported by the applicable registration and producer/product documentation.
Ask whether the offer is simply Turkish dried Sarılop or specifically offered under the Aydın İnciri protected name.
If PDO status matters, request the producer/exporter documentation and label/lot information supporting the claim.
Keep origin/PDO status separate from size, presentation, grade, analyses and packaging requirements.
Official reference profile
The EU single document describes dried Sarılop figs with specific physical and compositional characteristics and a maximum of 90 fruit per kilogram for the protected product. These are registration references, not a substitute for the current lot specification.
Origin can matter for product identity, buyer communication and use of the protected name. Metropolis Harvest treats it as a field to verify, not a marketing adjective to assume.
Tell us whether protected-origin status is required. We can structure the requirement and ask suitable producers/exporters for the supporting information before a serious quotation discussion.
