Metropolis Harvest is not a laboratory, certification body, customs broker or competent authority. We organize and verify available producer/exporter information; legal and shipment requirements must be confirmed with the responsible parties.
Current EU context
Türkiye-origin dried figs remain under increased EU official controls.
Under Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/1793 as amended, dried figs and certain derived fig products from Türkiye are listed for aflatoxins and Ochratoxin A. The current June 2026 amendment lists aflatoxins and Ochratoxin A for these products with a 30% frequency of identity and physical checks.
Regulations can change. The current consolidated EU text and shipment-specific requirements should be checked before dispatch.

For EU-bound dried figs, Turkish official guidance requires aflatoxin analysis and a Health Certificate process.
Türkiye's Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry states that dried figs and products derived from them require aflatoxin analysis for EU exports. Products with compliant results and a Health Certificate can proceed to plant quarantine control.
Aflatoxin analysis
The relevant export lot is tested under the applicable official process.
Health Certificate
A compliant result supports the Health Certificate step required by the official export process.
Plant quarantine control
The lot can then proceed to the plant quarantine control stage described by the authority.

What we ask for before presenting a lot as buyer-ready
The exact checklist depends on the destination and buyer. The goal is to separate verified documents from pending items.
- Lot / batch identification and crop information
- Current product specification and packaging details
- Aflatoxin / Ochratoxin A analysis where relevant
- Organic certificate only when an organic claim is requested
- Pesticide residue or microbiology documents when requested by buyer or market
- Traceability information available from producer/exporter
- Health Certificate status where the destination requires it
- Label, packing and destination-specific document requirements

Instead of displaying a certificate logo forever, each sourcing request can use a simple status system tied to the current producer, lot and document date.

Emerging topics
Alternaria is a monitoring topic, not a blanket claim on this site.
In February 2026, Türkiye's Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry reported technical discussions at the EU PAFF Committee concerning Alternaria toxins in dried figs and hazelnuts. Metropolis Harvest will treat this as a regulatory monitoring topic and will not present a universal limit unless current law or the buyer requirement clearly calls for it.
